Our History

Millworks' story began decades ago, rooted in the heart of Pekin, Illinois. Our founder, Louis Pesgalia, stumbled upon his entrepreneurial calling in the most unexpected way. A trucking accident led to a trade, where he received a lumber mill in exchange for the damages to his truck. Seizing this opportunity, Louis built a successful sawmill business, a legacy that would eventually inspire his grandson, Rick Butler, to follow in his footsteps.

Rick joined the family business after graduating from college, immersing himself in the world of lumber and woodworking. He played a crucial role in the company's expansion into the retail market with "The Woodworkers Shop" in the mid-1980s, a venture that proved the increasing demand for high-quality materials and tools among homeowners and businesses. This experience laid the foundation for Millworks' evolution into the comprehensive flooring and home improvement center it is today.
